Current State of Sprinkler System (as of July 2023)
How To
- Set the current day: Turn the knob to the 'set programs' setting. Then twist the knob to 'today' and use the plus or minus sign to adjust to the current day of the week.
- Set the watering days: For each day of the week, decide whether the sprinkler system will water the garden or not. Use the plus sign to set it to 'on', and the minus sign to set it to 'off'. For instance, if you want to water on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, you should set these days to 'on' and the rest to 'off'.
- Set the start time: Twist the knob to 'start times'. Decide on the time the watering should start. Use the plus or minus sign to adjust the time. For example, if you want to water the garden at 6 a.m., set the start time to 6 a.m.
- Set the number of watering times per day: With the controller, you can water up to three times per day. You can water in the morning, midday, and in the evening. If you want to water only once a day, set the start times for the second and third watering times to 'off'.
- Program each station: Move on to program each station (1 through 12). Depending on the type of plants and their water needs in each area, decide on the watering duration for each station. For example, if station 1 is a hillside with Hunter MP rotors, you might want to set the watering duration to 25 minutes.
- Turn off any unused stations: If any station is not being used (for example, station 9 is capped at the north fence), set it to 'off' using the minus sign.
- Review and run: Go back to 'current time', slide the knob to 'run' or 'manual run' to start the sprinkler system with the new settings.
- Handle power outages: If there is a power outage, the timer may go off. To reprogram, repeat the steps mentioned above. To avoid reprogramming, you can install a 9-volt battery to save the program.
